Jay Shah will take control as the ICC Chairman from 1st December 2024. Jay Shah, at the age of 35, will turn into the most youngest to take control as the Chairman of the Global Governing Body.

Duty:

Jay Shah has been serving his duty as the BCCI secretary since October 2019 and Chairman of the Asian Cricket Council since January 2021. Jay Shah got the vote of 15 out of 16 individuals in the ICC Board to be chosen the following ICC Chairman.

Jay Shah To PrioritiseTest Cricket After Becoming Chairman Of ICC:

Newly Appointed Chairman of the International Cricket Council, Jay Shah has confirmed that he will focus on Test cricket in the amid the rising popularity of T20 cricket.

In recent times, players have removed from playing Test cricket for their nations to take part in league cricket, as the last option offers more cash.

Jay Shah, who will expect to become the Chairman on 1st December 2024, confirmed in a statement issued by the Board of Control for Cricket in India saying he will make sure that the cricketers look forward to playing the longer format for their nations.

"While T20 format is a thrilling format, it is equally important but Test cricket remains a priority for everyone as it forms the bedrock of our game".

Shah will replace Greg Barclay, who announced earlier this year that he won't be going on as the Chairman Of International Cricket Council.
